AIR FLIGHTS TO THE YUKON
Whitehorse, Yukon has an International airport so getting to Canada’s scenic Yukon Territory by air flight is extremely easy. You can arrive for your Yukon fishing trip by air via Air Canada, Westjet, and Air North. Other airlines serving Whitehorse are Condor and Edelweiss Air. You may arrive on the morning flight but we prefer our clients arrive a day early for camp provisioning and sightseeing opportunities.
Flights to the Yukon from the U.S. and Canada:
Air North
The Yukon’s airline owned and operated by Yukoners. Renowned for great service, competitive prices, and reliable baggage service. Flights connect from Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton.
Air Canada
Canada’s largest carrier. Multiple flights connect from Vancouver on a daily basis. Air Canada can be booked with points but has a bad track record with us due to their constantly losing rod cases. If you decide to book with Air Canada do not be surprised when your gear does not arrive in Whitehorse. Unfortunately, we cannot be responsible for extra floatplane expenses due to Air Canada’s inability to do a good job. If Air Canada loses your luggage and an extra floatplane flight occurs due to this then you will be expected to cover the costs.
West Jet
New into Whitehorse, Westjet has an excellent reputation and great prices. Westjet begins flights from Vancouver British Columbia to Whitehorse May 17, 2012 and ends flights October 27, 2012. We recommend booking direct with Westjet for the lowest fares.
Flights to the Yukon from Europe, Australia and Asia:
Air Canada
Multiple international flights connect from Vancouver via Toronto, Montreal and Halifax on a daily basis.
Condor Airlines
This is a direct flight form Frankfurt Germany, once every Sunday during the summer months. Condor Airlines is a great way to get to The Yukon from Europe!
Australia and Asia into Canada usually involve Air Canada. Talk to your travel agent or go online to check for the best deals.
DRIVING TO THE YUKON
For those anglers and fishing enthusiasts driving to the Yukon, there are three major routes.
Via the Alaska Highway – 2 Routes
One is on the Alaska Highway beginning in Dawson Creek B.C. for folks arriving from the South or East. Whitehorse is approximately a three days drive from Vancouver to Whitehorse, and two days form Calgary or Edmonton.
The other Alaska Highway driving route to the Yukon originates north from Anchorage or Fairbanks, Alaska and follows the Alaska Highway south into the Yukon with a total drive time of approximately 12 hours.
Via Ferry Service – From Seattle or Vancouver
Lastly, you can take a ferry from Seattle or Vancouver, disembark at Skagway and drive through the spectacular and historic White Pass (this drive takes approximately 2 hours total).
